Programs that organize, advertise, select participants for and judge any of a wide variety of activities which involve designation of one or more winners based on talent, skill, knowledge, physical appearance or other individual characteristics.
Parks/Recreation Areas
Programs that develop, maintain and make available to the public recreational facilities and grounds which can be used for a variety of leisure-time activities. Included are amusement parks, beaches, camps, public gardens, harbour/marina areas, zoos and a broad range of recreational facilities that are available in community; provincial and national parks; schools and universities; and other recreational areas.

Physical Fitness
Programs that provide activities for people who want to improve their strength, flexibility, endurance, muscle tone, reflexes, cardiovascular health and/or other aspects of physical functioning.
Recreation Related Expense Assistance
Programs that pay all or a portion of the fees and/or other expenses associated with instruction and/or participation in a particular recreational, artistic or leisure-time activity for people, especially children from low income families, who would be unable to enjoy those programs without assistance.
Recreational Activities/Sports
Programs that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy the organized recreational activity, sport or game of their choice. These programs may be offered by local clubs devoted to a particular activity or sport; may provide individual or team coaching assistance or instruction, access to equipment and facilities, and uniforms, if necessary; and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in amateur competitions, usually at the local, regional or provincial level, and provide officials for games. These events are generally for the enjoyment of the athletes and are not at a high enough competitive level to be considered spectator sports.

Sightseeing/Guided Tours
Organizations that provide morning, afternoon, evening or full-day excursions which enable visitors to see local places of interest in a city or surrounding areas, usually under the auspices of a guide who is knowledgeable in the history, landmarks, culture and natural history of the area. Also included are local places of interest such as historic homes and neighbourhoods, public buildings, theatre complexes, race track stable areas and other points of interest that are open to the public on a regular or special open-house basis and which may provide guided tours.
Special Events
Programs that sponsor, organize and promote festivals, parades, fairs, memorial celebrations and other activities during religious and patriotic holidays and other special occasions.
Travel
Programs organized by community or educational groups that provide opportunities for people of all ages to travel locally, throughout the country or abroad for the purpose of study or personal enjoyment; which help people with their travel plans; or which offer travel insurance for people who want to purchase it.
