Description (Service)

A therapy dog program

  • well-trained, sound-tempered, and well-groomed dogs visit nursing homes, hospitals, seniors centres and other locations for those who do not have access to a canine companion
  • visiting dogs are a valuable therapeutic aid for children, shut-ins, the sick or the elderly
Hours

Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm * therapy tests at St. John Ambulance office

Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up
  • must obtain police security check
  • dog must pass the Therapy Test and have current vaccinations
  • program requires a commitment by volunteer and dog to visit the same place and person, at the same time and day of the week, on a regular basis
