Volunteers Clinics do not complete returns for tax situations involving any of the following:  
self-employment income or employment expenses  

  • business or rental income and expenses  
  • interest income over $1,000
  • capital gains or losses  
  • foreign property (T1135)  
  • bankrupt individuals in the year of bankruptcy (or the year prior, if that return has not been filed)  
  • deceased individuals

Volunteer Income Tax Clinics for 2024 (2023 tax year) are now finished

  • hosted by community organizations across Canada through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), free tax clinics are available for eligible people to get their tax returns done, by volunteers
  • for those with simple tax situations and modest income (for details see 'Eligibility' below)
