Ontario Breast Screening Program:

  • breast screening for early detection of breast cancer in women, Two-Spirit people, trans people and nonbinary people
  • screening includes mammography (x-rays of breast tissue)
  • screening results are sent to both the patient and their doctor
  • those who receive normal results are automatically recalled for their next screening appointment
  • those who receive abnormal results are referred to their doctor for further investigation, or are referred directly for additional tests

  • no referral required for those between 40 and 74 years
  • medical referrals also accepted for those high risk between 30 and 69 years or 75 years or older
