						A series of supervised exercise and information programs delivered in partnership with area hospitals and health agencies 
- helps enhance health while managing specific chronic health conditions
 
 
Programs available at the Ron Edwards Family YMCA in Burlington include:  
Balance+ LiveWell 
- 12-week Falls Prevention exercise program
 
- open to the community as well as members
 
- two group exercise sessions each week to help build strength, balance, flexibility and endurance and reduce the risk of falls
 
 
Gentlefit LiveWell 
- designed for individuals suffering from chronic joint or bone issues and to optimize health pre/post joint replacement
 
 
Healthy Hearts LiveWell 
- offers continuum care for community based cardiac rehabilitation for individuals who have experienced a recent cardiac event
 
- registered program in partnership with Hamilton Health Sciences
 
- includes both supervised exercise and education (based on stage of rehabilitation)
 
- program is included with YMCA membership
 
- doctor's referral note required
 
 
Hydrotherapy LiveWell 
- self-paced rehabilitative pool exercises using a variety of equipment like water weights or flotation belts
 
- ideal for those with hip, knee, bone & joint issues or other medical conditions
 
- open to everyone
 
 
InMotion 
- designed for people with chronic bone and joint health problems such as osteoporosis and arthritis
 
- also appropriate for those wanting to improve their health before and after having hip or knee replacement surgery
 
- physician's approval is strongly recommended
 
 
Walkfit 
- gentle, low-impact workout that uses Activator walking poles, to reduce impact on joints and improve the strength and coordination of upper and lower body
 
 
GERAS Dance  
- fun 12-week program for older adults
 
- sessions are twice weekly
 
- registered class is geared towards older adults who may have early cognitive or mobility impairments
 
- open to both the community and YMCA members
 
 
Back to Living Well 
- designed by the YMCA and McMaster University for those that suffer from lower back pain
 
- 12 week program that includes a weekly group functional exercise class, individualized exercise program on the fitness centre and self-management education (delivered virtually)
 
- also includes weekly action learning planning to help ensure members achieve their goals
 
- included in membership
 
- to ensure safety, any individuals with more complex health issues will be screened by a physiotherapist to ensure the program is appropriate
