If you know the cemetery, crematorium or funeral home:

  • cemetery office will have a record of the grave number
  • crematorium will have a record of the cremation, and of interment of ashes (if interred there)
  • funeral home will have the information it was given at the time of the funeral, including cemetery or crematorium name, but may not have a record of where ashes were interred, if they were interred at a later date

If you do not know the cemetery, crematorium or funeral home:

  • burial Information may have been published in a newspaper obituary, or the cemetery inscription may have been transcribed
