Description (Service)

The OPP perform all duties and services in relation to the preservation of peace, prevention of crime and offences against the laws in force in Ontario and the criminal laws in Canada, and the apprehension of criminals and offenders who may be lawfully taken into custody 

 The Burlington Detachment patrols five provincially maintained highways within the regional municipalities of Hamilton-Wentworth and Halton, encompassing eight separate municipalities:

  • two controlled access 400 series highways (QEW and 403) 
  • two two-lane, two-way highways with no centre barriers (Hwy 8 and Hwy 5) 
  • one four-lane highway with no centre barrier (Hwy 6)

The detachment is also responsible for the policing of Bronte Creek Provincial Park
