Description (Service)

Enforces all parking infractions on city streets, including 5-hour maximum limit, fire route and accessible parking violations 
 
Temporary street parking exemptions:

  • permitted for circumstances, such as driveway repairs or out-of-town guests
  • can be requested through website

Parking fines:

  • can be paid online, in-person or by mail
  • for more information see here

Free downtown parking:

  • available for those who display a valid Ontario Accessible Parking Permit or City-issued Veteran permit or veteran plate (see below)
  • for a 3-hour limit on the street and all day in most municipal lots and garage, for more information see here

Veteran Parking Exemption Permit: 

Annual permit that allows eligible veterans (see 'Eligibility' field below) to park for free (subject to designated time restrictions) throughout the year at:  

  • pay parking machines on downtown streets (3-hour limit)
  • downtown parking garage and municipal lots (all day)
  • Art Gallery of Burlington (1333 Lakeshore Rd)
  • application may be downloaded from website

Eligibility

Veterans eligible for Veteran Parking Exemption Permit include:

  • those who served during wartime in the Canadian Forces, including the reserve forces, the forces of the Commonwealth, its allies, the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command
  • is serving or has served in NATO operations or as a member of the United Nations peacekeeping force
  • those who served in the Vietnam War in the forces of the United States or its allies during that war and was a Canadian citizen at the time
