Name/Gender Identity Modification Assistance
Programs that provide assistance for transgender individuals as well as people who identify as nonbinary, as an intermediate or separate third gender, as a person with more than one gender, with no gender (agender), or have a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid), who need to change their name and/or gender identity on a passport, driver licence, provincial/territorial ID card, court order, immigration papers, Indigenous status ID or other documents. Some programs are also able to cover related expenses.
Gender Identity Counselling
Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance in a variety of settings for individuals whose gender identity is not in harmony with their birth assignment, and who may have a desire to change their biological sexual characteristics to conform physically with their perception of self and want to explore their options including hormone replacement therapy, gender transition and/or reassignment through surgery.
Sexual Orientation Counselling
Programs that provide emotional support, information and guidance for people who want to explore their sexual orientation in order to enable them to identify and feel comfortable with their orientation. Counselling and support may be offered in a variety of settings which may include individual and group counselling sessions and, if appropriate, conjoint and family counselling sessions with significant others.
LGBTQ2+ Community Centres
Multipurpose centres that serve as a meeting place for people who identify as part of the gender and sexually expansive community that includes people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or two-spirit to grow together, celebrate diversity and increase public understanding. The centres may offer community events, educational programs, counselling, support groups, library resources, recreational programs and other services that support LGBTQ2+ individuals and organizations.
