Description and Service Details

Description (Service)

A voluntary service offered throughout Halton Region that allows a family member and/or caregivers of vulnerable persons to submit critical information to Halton Regional Police Service that may be used during an emergency situation

  • a Vulnerable Person is defined as a person who due to a medical, mental health or physical condition, may exhibit patterns of behaviour that may pose a danger to themselves or to others
  • could include an inclination to wander, the inability to communicate, fascinations or attractions (water, construction sites, etc.) and social responses (fear of strangers, aggression)
  • may include persons with Alzheimer's disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury or a mental condition that causes a person to exhibit the above behaviours

  • name and address
  • contact information
  • recent photograph of the individual (optional)
  • medical condition
  • de-escalation techniques
  • tendencies/routines
  • registry information is updated annually
  • information is only available to HRPS personnel in the performance of their duties

Administration Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm

Areas Served Halton Region ; Individuals attending school, daycare, other activities or regularly visiting the Region of Halton may be registered

Application
  • parent(s), guardians, administrators and substitute decision makers are encouraged to submit a registration using the online registry
  • anyone who does not have access to the internet is encouraged to visit any of the district police stations for assistance in registering
